About Lar Matre
Lar Matre was born in California near the middle of the 20th century. His parents remember that he started drawing just after he started walking, showing his artistic abilities very early on. Upon entering school, he quickly became the class artist, focusing on illustration, but his deep down passion was photography. Life, LOOK, and National Geographic were his favorite picture magazines. Lar bought his first 35mm camera at the age of 14. He then taught himself processing and printing from library books. Many were returned late ... some with a chemical smell. This piece looks like the many fans of the thinest luminous layers extending into infinity. Anything with a sense of infinity really intrigues me and I love the subtlety of the tones here, too, as well as those smaller delicate finger like bent light bursts. Really great!!
